Personally I won’t start working on a space until I’ve selected the area rug. The perfect area rug should be the right mix of comfort, style and color. When choosing your rug size make sure your furniture fits onto the rug completely. Sofas always look better with all sides on a rug rather than off .
A good rule of thumb when figuring out the size of your area rug is to measure the circumference of the placed furniture and add two feet on every side. For example, under a dinning room table the additional two feet will give enough room for dinning chairs to be pulled out and still remain on the rug.
